As the Sergeant at Arms of the Washington chapter of Kings of Anarchy MC, I’m no stranger to all that is wrong with the world. Everything evil and dark would swallow me whole if I let it, which is why I do everything in my power to balance the scales in my favor for when my time comes to meet my maker.

Abandoned at a young age, I know little about what it’s like to be loved. I was raised in an orphanage, and while other children were adopted, I wasn’t so lucky. It wasn’t a terrible childhood, and the nuns provided me with all they could, but religion became the only life I know.

At twenty-three, I now go by Sister Emiliani and have devoted myself to the church and the Lord. My life should be simple, predictable, and certain the closer I get to my final vows. But Quake shows up, rough with more than a hint of danger surrounding him, and he’s impossible to ignore. Suddenly, everything I think I know feels wrong.

Around him, I feel awake, seen, like life has so much more to offer than solitude and prayer if only I’m brave enough to reach for it.
