Regret. I’m a man living with regret. It eats at me night and day.

Eights years ago, I ran from Reagan instead of facing the music. I was sure he would shut me out if he knew the truth, so I beat him to the punch. I left and never looked back.

Or at least I tried not to.

To this day, Reagan is always in the back of my mind, trying to make me remember the fun we had. I always wonder what he would have thought if I’d told him everything.

The regret echoes in my head.

Now he’s standing in front of me, looking for answers I doubt he’s ready for.

Can Reagan accept me for who I really am?

Rebecca Brooke grew up in the shore towns of South Jersey. Writing has always been a love for her, as well as reading. She loves to hit the beach, but always with her kindle on hand. She is married to the most wonderful man, who puts up with all of her craziness. Together they have two beautiful children who keep her on her toes. Rebecca is the author of contemporary, new adult, and paranormal romance.

Review

Trey & Raven = Wonderful Romance 4 1/2   Stars

Gent is the story of Trey and Raven. It takes place in a small town. Gent is enemies to lovers romance.

Trey is a rough mechanic. He is often rude, obnoxious or a downright jerk. As you continue reading the story, Gent, you realize there is more to Trey and/or that he as not so bad.  You discover that he has put up walls around himself. Trey also seems to keep people at a distance. Trey is a loner.

Raven just graduated. She has just moved to town. Raven has found work as a baker. When Raven meets Trey, their introduction is not the best. He is very rude and unwelcoming.

Raven is an intelligent and caring individual. Raven knows that there is good inside in of Trey. I love how there is like a push / pull going on between Raven and Trey (love / hate). I love the chemistry between Raven & Trey. Gent is a well written and entertaining story. I recommend this book to others.
Excerpt
“Listen,
babe—”
She holds
up her hand like a stop sign and for some reason, having her interrupt doesn’t
bother me.
“Did you just
babe me?” Her question is all sass.
“Sure did,
sweetheart. Call ‘em like I see ‘em. Don’t pretend to be offended. We both know
why you’re over here talking to me.”
Her face
turns an adorable shade of pink. “First, stop with the nicknames. Second, are you
for real? What the hell is wrong with you?”
“I don’t
see any issue. You’re the one disrupting my quiet evening.”
“What the…
I mean, seriously? I want to sit down and this is the only available spot. You
honestly think I came over here to hit on you?”
Her
ridiculous question doesn’t deserve a response. My glare matches hers as I
silently explain my opinion on the matter. My expression must tell her
everything she needs to know.
“Wow,
you’re an asshole.”
“You’re the
third woman to call me that tonight. Be careful, I might get a complex.”
“Aw, poor
baby. I’d hate to dent your fragile ego,” she snips with a curl in her lip.
“There’s
nothing fragile about me. Don’t worry. I’m hard and solid. Wanna feel?” I ask
and pat my abs.
She nods to
my hands. “No, thanks. I’d hate for you to rub off on me.”
“Does the
grease under my nails bother you? Princess is afraid of getting a little
dirty?”
“Do you get
a rise out of being mean?”
I lean
against the bar and cross my arms. “I don’t get many complaints. You’re not
from around here, so I’ll fill you in—the ladies love me.”
“Pretty
sure I saw Barbie McCleveage storm off after chatting with you. She didn’t look
too satisfied.”
“Now who’s
using nicknames? Jealous much?”
“Hardly,”
she huffs.
I smirk
before checking out her rack, being extremely obvious about it. Pushing her
buttons takes away the tension from earlier, replacing it with a surprising
ease. Fighting with her is the most nonsexual fun I’ve had with a woman in a
long time. Wonder how she’d react if I called her ma’am.
“All right,
all right. You’ve broken me down. I was set on not having any company tonight,
but for you, I’ll make an exception. If you insist on standing here, blabbing
away, I’ve got far better uses for that luscious mouth. My place isn’t too far
away,” I suggest while waggling my brows. My behavior is over the top, but what
can I say? She’s bringing out the best in me.
Her lips
part in shock. This stranger just stares at me, and I’m sure she’s about to
turn away… or slap me. Either way, mission accomplished.
But this
chick is full of surprises.

His Sweetest Sin by Fiona Murphy

Title: His Sweetest Sin
Author: Fiona Murphy
Genre: BBW Contemporary Romance
Release Date: May 29, 2018

I can’t believe it. Christopher Baldwin, the baddest boy in baseball wants me. Amelia Bishop, I was maybe a solid seven before an accident changed my life, leaving me fat, broken, and avoiding mirrors around me. If he hadn’t said it with a stare hot enough to melt brain cells, I would never have believed him when he said my curves are what he wants.

Cocky, arrogant, tattooed, with a diamond glinting in his ear, he is no boy. He is all man and a lethally gorgeous one at that. With dimples flashing as he invites me to sin in a slow Southern drawl I’m trying to remember I don’t swoon, sin, or—wait, what? I forgot not to stare directly at his dimples, those bright blue eyes aren’t safe either. Sorry, as I was saying.

As appealing as the idea of being bad with Chris is, there is no doubt in my mind I would fail miserably at it, even under his expert tutelage. Chris is used to strippers, women who have all the right moves. Me, I have no moves, at all. Chris is major league, I would get laughed out of little league.

I’m also his lawyer, at least until my brother, Ethan, comes back from vacation. Getting involved with clients is a huge no-no, no matter what primetime television might show. As gorgeous as he is he isn’t worth the possibility of hurting my career or losing the hard-earned respect of my boss and brother.

Only I can’t deny he makes being bad sound so good. Once Ethan is back I’m no longer Chris’s lawyer and it’s open season on all my good intentions. Being with him is still dangerous, his fame attracts all sorts of trouble. Who knows what complications could tear us apart?

***While a standalone, Holly and Ethan from His Under Contract make an appearance. You need not have read His Under Contract to enjoy His Sweetest Sin. ***

***Warning***
I don’t like to watch sports, although I do enjoy watching beautiful men sweat. I’ve never read a sports romance before. Chris Baldwin is a man falling in love with a sassy, damaged, curvy woman and he also happens to play baseball. When I started writing, I did do my research. I watched the winning series that inspired the story. I watched a bunch of movies and spent hours on Wikipedia. Then I scrapped the paragraphs waxing lyrical about the love the game and stuck with what I know. My billionaires don’t lay out the inner workings of their deals. I figured less is more. So, please be aware the focus is not the love of the game, it’s on the love story.

The waitress brings us our plates with a smile, asking if we need anything else, and we both decline. I’m not in the mood to eat though, still uneasy from the warning in Chris’s eyes. I hate him for doing this to me, turning me inside out, causing my emotions to run riot with a look or a few words. It feels like he’s playing with me. “I’m really not hungry. I want to go to work. I’m tired of being used as something for you to amuse yourself with.”

His bark of laughter is loud in the large, empty room. “Me use you? If anyone is using anyone, it’s you using me. Don’t worry, I’ll let you use me.”

I’m blinking fast. “Me, use you?”

“Yes, sugar, you’re using me. Usually, it wouldn’t matter to me why a woman wanted to fuck me as long as she did. I guess today is a day for revelations for the both of us. You didn’t know your pussy gets wet at the idea of being owned, and I didn’t know my cock goes limp at the idea of being used by you.”

I am not hurt by his annoyance, but I do know he’s nuts. “You are seriously not in your right mind. I’m not using you. You’re the one talking dirty, who keeps coming after me. I told you the first time I met you that us hooking up doesn’t make sense and it’s not what I want. How the hell is this on me?”

He sighs, and I fight the urge to kick him for it. “You eat me up with your eyes; I can smell your pussy wet for me. Your tits swell and sway, and you thrust them out the minute you catch me looking. Fine, I get it, you don’t even realize you’re doing it, but you are doing it. I’m really supposed to just walk away from you? Sugar, since you are so completely clueless, I’ll tell you right now the way you want me—so bad you ache, so bad you can’t think straight, so bad you’re willing to take a chance you never thought you’d take—that kind of want and need doesn’t happen very often, and you aren’t the only one feeling it.

“What pisses me off is you’re willing to take all I want to give you without giving it back. You’re trying to figure out how to get the cheese out of the trap without setting it off. I’m the bad boy who fucks at will, used to any chick riding my cock and giving orgasms until a woman can’t move from it. So you figure if he’s giving it out to anyone, why not you? That, that’s what pisses me off.

His jaw is tight, his eyes are the color of the arctic in winter, freezing me to the empty, hollow of my chest. “You aren’t willing to be bad, to get dirty. You want to stay the good girl, sweet, kind, never causes a fuss. Shit, woodland creatures probably clean your place while you sit on your perfectly plump ass sipping on your coffee, while you read the day away. Books where there’s nothing more than a proper, close-mouthed kiss before it fades to black, where the men are noble, dickless prisses who ask for kisses instead of taking them. I’m going to be the villain in the story who sneaks in and takes you. You’ll give in without ever giving anything up, not your good girl image, not yourself, just your body.”

I hate him. I fucking hate him. I blink, and tears fall. I hate him even more for sighing at the sight of them. Pushing away from the table, my legs are trembling so badly I feel like I’m fighting to stay standing during an earthquake. I want to make my escape from him, from all of this, but not until it’s clear this is all his damn fault. “So it’s my fault for buying into the image you sold of yourself? I’m to blame because I’m willing to take what you keep telling me you’re willing to give? I told you I’m not on your level, the very first day. You’re major league, and I wouldn’t even make it into the little league. I’ve fucked three men, okay? Three, and each of them miserable experiences that left me questioning if it was over, if it was safe to just crawl away and hide. I don’t know what you want from me to know if I can even give it to you or not. You say a few weeks, then you joke about kids. You fuck with my head until I don’t know—”

I was so wrapped up in my rant I never saw him move, his hands go down to my hips before bringing me up against him. Oh god, he’s hard, so very hard and pressing into my stomach. Immediately, my knees go weak as I sag against him. His mouth grazes against my ear. “Shh…sugar, take a deep breath. I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have taken my frustration out on you even though damn it, Amelia, you started it. Walking in the door spitting fire, cranky as all hell, looking for a fight. Congratulations, you got your wish. I’m never going to be able to deny you what you want—I knew it the minute I laid my eyes on you.

“Amelia,” This time my name is throbbing with all his frustration. “I need you to be honest with me, and the real hard part here, with yourself. I get that it’s hard for you, for reasons only you know. It doesn’t matter, you need to figure out how. The crappy history with men, that I guessed at, but I never would have thought it was so bad. You make more sense than ever now.

“I’ll slow down, let you catch up. Normally, I’m more patient. You have a way of setting me off faster than anyone I’ve ever met. Take a breath, there you go, another one.” A large warm hand cups my cheek, his thumb wiping tears away. I find the courage to meet his eyes, and the awe in them stuns me. There is no teasing, no anger, nothing but pure awe. “Even crying you’re beautiful.”

Due to commitment issues I have lived in many different cities and my favorite is Chicago but I have managed to settle into Austin and perhaps my commitment issues are behind me.

I have enjoyed reading from a very young age and it wasn’t long before the children books bored me and I read the books my mother enjoyed Stephen King and Dean Koontz and I didn’t sleep without the light on until I was about ten.

I came across my first Harlequin by accident and it was love at first read, no one died and happy endings? It was a whole new world and I loved it.

I wrote my first story at eight and everyone died, of course. Since then I would like to think I’ve gotten better and now I’m writing the happily ever afters I first fell in love with, with some hot sex thrown in along the way.

Dare to Love by Harper Phoenix

Title: Dare to Love
Series: Stone Pack #4
Author: Harper Phoenix
Genre: Paranormal Romance
Release Date: May 29, 2018

Harrison has never been your average guy. He just didn’t fit the mould.

His past is behind him and now he has purpose.

A job.

And he does it well.

He lives for it and is prepared to die for it.

He’s damaged but finally accepted. He has everything he needs, or so he thought.

Grace is broken, vulnerable and on the run. Carrying a piece of her past with her, a past she’s desperate to leave behind.

But as the past and present collide she turns to Harrison for help.

Could he be the man for her?

But more importantly can she tame the wolf?

Prologue

Harrison aged nine.

Mum has two black eyes and a split lip when I get to the kitchen.

Dad came home in a bad mood last night. He hurt her bad. I’m still limping from the beating I got too. He didn’t come alone though, and dad took pleasure in watching. His friend always liked me over my mum, and my dad didn’t mind that at all. No matter how much I begged for it to stop, it never did. I wanted to run. But if I tried and he found me, it was always worse.

Last night, my mum had to strip naked as well as me. I had to watch that too. Dad’s friend took a belt to me, and when I wouldn’t bend over, and I fought to get free, he wrapped the belt around my neck. I passed out.

I woke up with him inside me, my dad grinning in front of me, while my mum wailed and cried, screaming for them to stop. He was grunting each time he went in. I struggled with all I had, screaming and flailing my arms, so my dad made my mum hold me still until the man was done with me.

My dad and his friend are passed out in the living room now. I glare at my mum, hatred burning deep in my belly. She starts to whimper and cry. I can’t be here anymore. There has to be somewhere better. This can’t be it.

‘I’m leaving, and I’m not coming back,’ I tell her in a small whisper. ‘You should come too.’

‘Shhhhh! Harry, I’m so sorry, so fucking sorry.’ I shake my head and look her up and down in disgust. I curl my lip and growl in frustration. Why me?

‘One day, I’m going to come back and kill them and if you’re still here…’

‘I have a plan, shhhh, Harry. I know what to do,’ she whispers then in an overly-loud voice adds, ‘go on now and get ready for school.’ I frown at her. Lowering her voice again she says, ‘Don’t take anything that won’t fit in your pocket. Everything is going to be okay, Harrison, I promise.’

I do as she asks and go to my room. I don’t have much anyway, so I put on two pairs of socks and pants and do my best to dress in a few layers without looking like the Michelin man. When I’m dressed and back in the kitchen, I watch as she gathers her bag and coat like she does on any normal day. Her eyes widen at me as I open my mouth to say something. Why isn’t she getting her things? I say nothing and walk out of the door without a word. It’s only when we turn the corner at the bottom of the street that she finally speaks. ‘There is a group of people a few miles away. They look out for each other, and they’re like you and your Dad.’ She looks at me, and a small smile comes across her face—not a happy one though, it’s full of pity. I know right then that she isn’t coming with me. I want to want her to come wherever she’s taking me, but also, I don’t. A huge part of me blames her for everything too.

We travel for hours, and when we get to the place, my mum goes off with a guy into a room and leaves me in a small living room with another man. I’m on alert immediately, wondering what the hell she’s playing at, and when he gets up and comes toward me, I hold my fists up to ward him off. He laughs as he passes and ruffles my hair with his hand.

‘You want a drink, kid?’ he asks a smile on his face.

I drop my hands and nod my head. I don’t speak.

‘Your mother not teach you manners, kid?’ I just look at him as he hands me a can of coke.

‘Thanks,’ I mumble. I sit back at the table, and he sits with his feet up on it.

‘Looks like you have a story to tell, kid. If you want to talk, I can listen. Or we can just sit right here until your mother is done.’ Again, I say nothing. Just acknowledge that he’s spoken with a small nod of my head. I have red marks around my neck that cannot be hidden, and I know that’s the reason he’s asking me to talk. But I won’t. Not ever.
I was born and bred in East Yorkshire England, and I still live in my hometown, with my husband and children.

My journey with stories began when I was just a child, I would often scribble down wherever my dreams or imagination took me.

My journey with writing stories, began much later when I became ill and housebound for a period of eighteen months. I decided I would escape real life and become immersed in a story of my creation. With the support of my husband and family my first real story was born. I would stay up night after night tapping the keys of my trusty laptop, while my husband lay sleeping beside me. I was hooked. But it wasn’t as easy as that. My story needed work. A lot of it. And it sat on my computer for some years after that. Later on I decided to embark on another journey. I went to university, where I studied Creative writing and english literature.

I then decided with a new wealth of knowledge that I would once again delve into the world that I had created. I had never forgotten the characters and would often think about what I would have liked to have done with them over the years. I had grown to love them for getting me through a very difficult period in my life, and I wanted other people to read all about them. And so I began to rewrite my book.

It wasn’t until I delved into the ‘Book world’ on facebook that I discovered the ‘Indie book world.’ It’s amazing! So many authors are now being heard publishing this way, and I can only hope that my books will leave a lasting memory for some or all of you readers too!

If You Say So by A.R. Myles * New Release & Giveaway *

Title: If You Say So: A Novel
Author: A.R. Myles
Genre: NA Romance
Release Date: May 29, 2018

Sometimes life is a dream you don’t want to wake up from . . .

The night Alison Lockhart walks in to Undisputed, she only wants to have a drink, celebrate a friend’s birthday, and forget about the newest guy her mother tried to set her up with. It’s why, when the infamous Jay “The Hurricane” Hamilton—one of the highest-ranking boxers at The Underground—labels her a ring rat, she writes him off as just another guy with an over-inflated ego.

Only she can’t stop thinking about him.

Or his steel-blue eyes.

Or the apology on his perfect lips.

Their fall is fast and hard, but when Alison’s ex shows up and Jay starts keeping secrets, will they be able to find their way out of the nightmare?

I kept repeating it over and over in my head as I put the car in drive and pulled out of the parking lot. The whole way home, I constantly looked over my shoulder and in the mirror to make sure no one was following me. The drive was normally only fifteen minutes, but this one felt like an eternity since every set of the lights I came to turned red.
You’re okay.
I finally pulled up behind Undisputed and parked in my usual spot. Leaving my things on the front seat, I climbed out and made my way to the back door, my legs feeling unsteady with every step I took.
I yanked the door open and relief washed over me as I stumbled inside and bumped into an extra table Jay kept in back. The whole thing rocked, and the tray of glasses on top of it slid to the floor.
“What the hell,” Kelsey said, coming through the door, stopping when she saw me standing in a sea of broken glass. “Ali? What’s—are you okay?”
The moment she said my name, everything came undone, whatever energy or adrenaline I had used to get home was no longer with me. My legs shook, and as I began to collapse, she hurried to my side and caught me. “Jay!” she shouted. “Jay, get back here, now!”
A few seconds passed before he pushed through the door. “What is it now, Kel—Ali?” he said, rushing forward and taking me into his arms. “What the hell happened?”
I buried my face against his chest and curled my hand around his shirt, the tears flowing as a small sob rocked my body. I never felt safer than I did when his arms were tightly wrapped around me. I never wanted him to let me go.
“What happened?”
“No idea. I heard a crash, came back to see what happened, and found her. She just collapsed,” Kelsey said, taking a step back.
He smoothed his hand over my head, and when he spoke, his voice was soft. “Baby, what’s going on? What happened?”
The door swung open as Hollie and Vince entered, their eyes landing on Jay and me and then all the glass on the floor. “Lockhart, don’t cry, it’s just a little bit of glass,” Vince said with a laugh, but it quickly faded as he held his hands up. “Whoa, tough crowd.”

Hollie elbowed him in the ribs and looked at me. The worry was clear in her eyes. “Ali, what happened?”

I’m enthralled. Captivated.

But my past is far too dark.

Pushing her away is my only option.

Yet her stubborn, sassy mouth and beautiful eyes weaken me.

I save her as much as she saves me.

Then blood is spilled once more, and I’ll forever live with the guilt.

Can light find its way through my darkness?

Can she truly be the salvation for this ruthless heart?

Surviving Eden by Virginia Wine * Book Tour *

Title: Surviving Eden
Series: Surviving Series
Author: Virginia Wine
Genre: Contemporary Romance
Release Date: March 13, 2018

Dr. Theodore Grant worked hard his entire life to achieve his goals. He was a prominent, renowned psychiatrist. He had it all: wealth, prestige, respect. Or so he thought.

When tragedy unexpectedly struck, he was forced to help his best friend’s daughter. She needed him. What he didn’t know was that he needed her, too—like his own breath.

How could he know it would all go so terribly wrong? That he would cross the line? He fought the desire leading him astray with everything he had, but in the end, he wanted only one thing: her.

To hell with what was right. Losing everything never even factored in his decision. All he wanted to do was live in the moment. Her moment.

She found his demons and slayed them with her innocence. The answer was clear now: he had done the right thing. He was certain of it. People would believe what they wanted to believe.

His notion of right and wrong was discarded the day Eden Barnett walked into his office. What he didn’t know was that it would be the day his life truly began.

The day he followed his heart, and it lead him into the garden… of Eden.
